One thing that I did not mention yesterday was my ride home from work. After lunch, we received some really heavy rain for a couple of hours. As a result, the roads everywhere were full of water, and as it turns out, the main flyover road that we take to get back to the residence was 'flooded' and had shut down for the remainder of the day. Thus, we had to take a detour, weaving our way in and around various neighborhoods. For you Birmingham folk out there, this would be equivalent to Red Mountain Expressway shutting down, and all that traffic would have to navigate through Southside to get downtown. Two words-MASS CHAOS!
Work has continued to be REALLY busy this week. Today around 12:30pm right when I was thinking about grabbing some lunch, I started to get extremely busy. I just thought I would postpone lunch an hour or so once I was able to get through everything. Well, the questions kept coming and there was much more to the review than I anticipated, so 3:00pm came around, and by that point, I really wasn't even hungry anymore. So, no lunch at all for me today! I guess one positive about that is that there was absolutely no chance of a letdown from a PB&J or McDonald's not having chicken, eh?
In addition to getting acquainted with two other EY rotators on Sunday (Sanjay and Scarlet), I also found out about another Birminghamian (is that how you say someone from Birmingham-it looks odd?) from KPMG that is also currently in Bangalore, AnnLindsey. I reached out to her earlier in the week, and tonight, Sanjay and I ended up having dinner with AnnLindsey and her roomate, Anna, from Portland. I documented my great experience at Anjappar last week, which is where Reggie and I went for his last meal here. Since this place was basically right in the middle of our two residences, I suggested we go there. Again, it was fantastic food and really cheap too! My dinner, including tip, was $11.
With respect to my post yesterday, I learned from the KPMGers at dinner that their residence has a grocery inside and they sold 'normal' peanut butter and bread. I will certainly be making my way over there to get my hands on some of that before too long. Thanks to all of you out there who offered to send some my way to overcome this tragedy!
Sanjay's driver took us to dinner tonight, and from this experience, I definitely realized how blessed I am to have the driver that I do. Sanjay's driver could barely speak English and didn't seem to know his way around at all (I actually had to give him directions, which shouldn't happen). Fortunately, Sanjay does speak a little Hindi and is able to communicate with him enough to get by. My driver, Rajagopal (basically Roger in India), is the man, and he is certainly worthy of a future post!
I'm off to our other office tomorrow (BSP) to assist the other half of my team in person.
