Raise your hand if you've ever used a charcoal iron before. Now, show of hands for those who have actually seen a charcoal iron before. These things are in abundance over here. Have you ever used a 'chimney' before to get the charcoal ready for a grill? That is exactly what one of these reminds me of, but obviously one side of it is flat to use as an iron. On just about every streetcorner in residential neighborhoods, you will see someone setting up shop with a charcoal iron.
I've learned that they charge around Rs. 4 per item, or in other words, you could get about 10 pieces of clothing ironed for about $1. I have yet to try this service out, but one of the rotators told me yesterday how he had been using a guy in his neighborhood for weeks now and they do an excellent job.
My question is whether or not it makes your clothes smell like charcoal. I actually love that smell, so I almost want to take some of my clothing to give it a try. However, the folks at the hotel that currently handle my laundry go as far as pressing my gym clothes, so why fix something that isn't broke?
