Anniversary!

Today marks one month that I have been in India! And what do I wake up to this morning? A freaking scorpion! When I walked into the bathroom, I noticed something move around the edge of the shower. I investigated a little closer and saw this (see pic below). Amazingly, it is still somewhat intact after I beat the living crap out of it with a shoe! Here's to no more scorpions (or any rodents) in my room for the remainder of my time here!

To celebrate my one month anniversary, I decided to finally give the cheeseburger from the hotel restaurant a try. Previously, I have been a little hesitant, as my previous experiences with beef in the city haven't exactly turned out as planned. In order to have this for 'lunch' though, I had to wait until 3pm. The restaurant has a "Snacky Alternative" menu that the cheeseburger happens to be a part of, and these menu items are only served 3pm to 7pm, or rather, between when the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. This cheeseburger with potato wedges was decent, but I'm going to have to find somewhere else if I order another one before I leave. I hear there is a TGI Friday's not too far from my residence that actually serves real deal beef, and is always slammed with foreigners. There also is a Hard Rock Cafe that I have a hunch might just be decent as well.

Sunday evening I was working for a couple of hours and was using my stapler and had to include this in my post. A little background first. For those of you who don't know, office supplies are critical to an accountant's daily work life. More detail surrounding this fact can be found on Stuff Accountants Like in multiple posts. And by office supplies, I mean 'quality' ones, not whatever you might could find at the dollar store. Well, since I was already carrying enough on the trip over, I decided to take the majority of my supplies out of my computer bag since I figured I could get whatever I needed over here. Man was I wrong! I seriously might have to get someone from the office to ship me some items before it's all said and done. I found out that most of the other rotators actually did ship a box of supplies for their use while here. Apparently I didn't get that memo! Here is a picture of the stapler that I have been using. I took this picture alongside a business card to give a perspective of the actual size. I mean, this thing is perfectly acceptable for documents less than 10 pages, but unfortunately tax returns are NOT less than 10 pages long! I did, however, bring a full arsenal of pens with me, so at least I'm covered in that arena.

  1. Don't burn the place down if someone steals your stapler!! Sorry, I had to say it.
